ANACREONTIC'S MUSIC

We're Anacreontic Society, a modern progressive rock project drawing mainly from contemporary pop music, classical orchestration, and 70s prog influences.

Anacreontic Society was the name given to clubs of amateur musicians created in London and Ireland around the 18th century to cultivate and practice instrumental music. The free spirit and unbound creative impulse of these gentlemen are also our main drivers, so that's actually what inspired us to borrow the name.

Naturally, we don't play music of the 18th century, but our sources and influences can be traced back to times long past. Check the opening track in our album COLORS: a waltz played by an orchestra that morphs into a blatant rock song. Some bands from the progressive arena of the 70s have done something similar, so we are not doing anything really disruptive.

But we don't stay there, we advance into other genres to test our limits, with only one rule in mind: always spicy it up adding new colors.
